Lock it….or Lose it!

Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program made up of volunteers. The program is organized and operated by a group of people living in the Kaleva area who want to make their neighborhood safer by working together, with the assistance and resources of the Manistee County Sheriff Department. The program provides opportunities to work toward increasing safety, improving the quality of life of local communities, and reducing crime rates.

Goals:

  • Allow citizens to become involved in the protection of their neighborhoods.
  • Assist local law enforcement by acting as "eyes and ears"
  • Learn how to take steps to make their own home and property less vulnerable to the treat of break-ins and vandalism
  • Empower citizens and communities to become active in emergency preparedness, as well in the fight against crime and terrorism
  • Get to meet and know their neighbors and local law enforcement
  • Identify concerns, issues and problems and work together to find a solution
  • Obtain training on different topics to enhance community awareness and safety
